Message from the President

Welcome to the year 2009! This is going to be an exciting year for Women’s Council of REALTORS® members as we continue our efforts to deliver the necessary tools that will empower our members in today’s real estate market.
In January the State of Florida held its Mid-Winter convention in Orlando. As always it was very informative. There are numerous state committees to join and I’m on the international and awards committees. Our new President Elect, Debbie Towns and Donna Stout, our Treasurer joined me and took home invaluable information for our chapter.
I want to thank all of you that served in 2008 and to those who have volunteered in 2009. I couldn’t do it without your support.
Knowledge is power, and our goal is to offer that power to our Women’s Council of REALTORS® members. With the ever changing and challenging real estate market, we have to create new opportunities for our members. Our focus will be on offering information and education that will improve your business today.
We ask for your participation, your involvement and your input to make this an ever improving organization. We ask for your enthusiasm to make 2009 a successful year. Make it your goal to learn, connect and thrive with Women’s Council of REALTORS®. Please remember to employ our local and state affiliates whenever possible because without their support or chapter would not thrive.
Michele Schafer Local Chapter President

Inspirational Thoughts and Readings
"Responsibility does not only lie with the leaders of our countries or with those who have been appointed or elected to do a particular job. It lies with each of us individually. Peace, for example, starts within each one of us. When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us." ~Dalai Lama timetospa Topic: Meditation Your Inner Sanctuary Awaits

Linda Seltzer Loan Administrator Third Federal Savings & Loan I hail from Charm City, Baltimore, MD. After college and trying my hand at several jobs in the mid 70’s I moved to Fairfax, VA where I worked in the photography studio at Woodward & Lothrop in various locations, ending up at the flagship store in Washington DC. I met my husband, Neil when for a short time he worked at Woodies, as it was called. However, in the mid 90’s Woodies, after 100 plus years went out of business.I decided then to try something else and settled on banking, going to work for Chevy Chase Bank a regional bank in the Washington area. I learned a lot, working there for almost 5 years, including Equity products and getting my license in life and health insurance, whereby I could sell fixed annuities. Life in the DC area could be very cold in the winter months….every year I complained more until when our children, Nathan and Dana were in Law School and College respectively, we finally decided to make a move to Florida. Friends of ours were familiar with the Fort Myers/Cape Coral area after vacationing on Captiva Island for several years and recommended we try the Cape. We flew down to Delray Beach, where my parents have a condo, rented a car and drove over to the cape and most importantly got a realtor. We went into the first house and I was sold….we saw several others, but bought the first house we saw. So in one day we had a contract and never looked back. Then I had to find a new job. Again I lucked out and went to work for THIRD FEDERAL SAVINGS & LOAN…the best company ever! What can I say, Third Federal has a lowest mortgage rate guarantee, with great rates, fair closing costs and caring loan administrators. Building on the skills I already had, I am now a loan administrator. So come and see us at THIRD FEDERAL, you will be glad you did.

Patra Rupp, Realtor The Jeff Miloff Team Miloff Aubuchon Realty Group, Inc.
My passion for traveling started in sixth grade when we learned of interesting places like South America to visit. It was that desire that kept me in scouting through high school to travel by plane to the Girl Scout International Headquarters in Mexico as a junior. I went off to art school in 1960 and lost interest in the academic; ready for my next trip– Europe! Working a year to earn money for a ticket on the ocean liner SS America and visit England, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France. I then lived in Norway for a year before traveling back to the United States. Now with my husband and best friend of forty years, Bard, we have continued to pursue the passion of travel together.
